EBT cards are used for both food and cash assistance programs. There are two types of cards: one can only be used for food. The other can be spent on anything and used just like a debit card.

Interesting did not know there were two kinds of EBT cards, the debit card version that can be spent on "anything" needs to be done away with it is just abuse waiting to happen.

  • You can't just choose to believe something.

Believing in something doesn't make it true.

The EBT card used for "anything" is what you get when you receive unemployment. You can use that card as a debit card or you can withdraw money from the card and deposit it in your checking/savings account or simply put cash in your pocket. There have never been limits on how you spend your unemployment and I would like to at least think that most of this money is going to pay the bills and go for housing. But of course the government can't micro-manage all monies spent.
