Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's founder and fleet captain Paul Watson remains under house arrest in Germany following a week in German prison and is now facing extradition to Costa Rica.

Paul is released from prison:

If anyone would like to help Paul Watson (and knowing what I do about this website I bet some of you do ;)),  you can make an impact by writing or calling the Federal Minister of Justice in Berlin Germany

I though Alex Jones had started handing out military ranks to his employees. :-)

What did this Captain do to offend the Germans?

I have no idea; I can only speculate and aborted doing that after a few failed attempts.

Captain's not always a military rank though, it's also a sailor's job e.g. cruise ships always have captains.   Not sure if the reason you mentioned it is because some people actually criticize him for this?

I don't think a ship's hierarchy is military.

Look at commercial airlines and commercial ships. Both have Captians etc.

I don't understand what you mean.    This looks like a ship's Captain wrecked his vessel or spilled oil or murdered his mistress or something.  I was asking why this guy is in court.

The vid showed one of "his" ships banging into another as part of his protest.  Flags of the vessels couldn't be seen but if he's on charges in Germany then I assume one of them was a German flagged vessel that was damaged in some way.  As leader of this protest movement I assume he is considered culpable in some way but it does seem strange.

Apparently he's being held in Germany as Costa Rica have requested his extradition. He's accused of being responsible for a collision with fishing boats. This occured 10 years ago. He's accusing Costa Rica of cosying up to Japan - who are the perennial targets for his protests.

Costa Rica would have us believe that the boats you saw colliding in the video is attempted murder and destruction of property.

Nah he can stay put in Germany as far as I'm concerned.
Illegal immigration isn't a new concept in the US. Just ask the Native Americans.

Hello Kasey, I agree with Coffey that your comment begs explanation.  Is the ocean's ecosystem not worth aggressive civil action when governments and all their treaties, rules and regulations won't enforce what they rule?    Is it possible that you don't care about Sea Shepherd because you don't live in the ocean?

It's important to know in any discussion that Paul Watson's clientele isn't us, it's whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and tuna.

I'll give a tip of my hat to Lonesome George too, and meanwhile shark finning continues in the Galapagos.

Thanks to Captain Paul Watson, someone is actually doing something about it.

I wholly disagree with Mr Watson's methodology, so I believe he should stay under house arrest in Germany and accept whatever punishment is due him for whatever it is he's done that has lead to him being under house arrest.

Please, please show me the alternative methodology in action.

Government can have all the rules and regulations it wants and if it doesn't enforce anything it's nothing more than useless ink on paper.

If Australia sent three warships at the Japanese fleet, 'Whale Wars' would be over next season.   We readily respect the big shiny grey things that government builds.

I shouldn't think you hate whales, right?   Do you shudder like I do when species like Lonesome George go extinct from human intervention?
