Quote

American Atheists flew a banner over New York City today, July 4, 2012. The banner behind the airplane read, “Atheism Is Patriotic – atheists.org.”

Dave Silverman, President of American Atheists, said, “In 2011, American Atheists attempted to fly a banner in all fifty states on July 4th, but ran into discrimination from companies that refused to fly the banner. This year we are concentrating on New York City where the most powerful symbol of American freedom resides: the Statue of Liberty.”

A Messianic Jew was sending Orthodox Jews literature to try and convert them. Books were sent directly to their homes, unsolicited. As you can guess some of the Orthodox Jews were not happy. The Messianic Jew stated he bought a mailing list with thousands of names. So marketing, advertising, is all being taken to another level with contemporary proselytizers.

Its always that way. Christians were and are very good network marketers, the atheists know if they want to compete, they have to keep up. atheists should know intimately the long term affects of evolution. It dosnt matter if they are right, if they can't compete, then they are toast.

It dosnt matter anyway. Indoctrination and birth rates will overtake conversion and the atheists brand of logic. In 500 years we will all be Mormon :o

Actually by all measurements nones are the fastest growing religious group in the US, and significant parts of Europe are already largely secular.
It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If atheist start to do all the networking and advertising that other religions/beliefs do, then we're not any better than the rest. I don't like others opinions pushed on me and shoved down my throat...if someone wants more knowledge about something then they should have the freedom to seek it out on there own. I'm not saying you shouldn't be proud or stand up for what you believe but be smarter and better and respect and be happy for other people's beliefs...don't turn it into a power struggle.

Just a blip. Who are having the most children and what is their attrition rate once those kids grow up? Secular people will have less kids on average, so unless they convince those having 3, 4, or 5 kids to become seculare it will only take few generations.

Power struggles just happen, no one turns it into anything.

Your half correct on that...but not true for every situation. Sometimes you can choose to take the high road and just walk away.

Actually most secular/nones (secular does not equal atheist on these statistics. Many seculars are secular Christians, Jews, Muslims, ect.) come from religious families, not secular families. I myself come from a heavy catholic background. The continued trend is people leave religion faster than new people become religious, and just stating otherwise doesn't make it so.
Really, the only solution has been to do what many evangelical and strictly Orthodox Jews are doing and cutting of their communities from the world at large.
Attempting to control internet access and access to books for learning.

Besides children often go against the beliefs of their parents when the grow up anyway, that goes for atheist children as well as for those raised by theist.

Not true of Islam.  They have a higher birthrate and rarely convert.  It's why Europe, Canada and the US are in for great challenges in the decades ahead.  Of course, once the greatest part of the population is Muslim then it's only right for them to choose the laws they feel comfortable with - it's just democracy.  I expect to be long gone before that happens though.
