Is there one true religion for the world?
This has come about from having morons and witnesses knock on the door a few times.. myself.. I am a pagan.. I believe in many gods just not one..
So far I have found paganism the only religion that does not say 'this is the true religion' for the world.
Every major religion in its eyes is the true religion for everyone.. problem is its not..
My personal belief.. the gods are clever.. they know man is different and generally man will not think the same as their neighbour..
Is there one true religion.. no.. every religion is correct for those that believe in a god.. gods or goddesses..
I don't think there is a 'right' religion for the whole world, but there can be a society which allows religions to peacefully co-exist.
We have different religions, because people and cultures are different, but in all religions, there is an element of 'truth'. By that, I mean that beyond the external dogma and observances, there is a deeper spiritual and mystical element which underpins that religion.
When that spiritual element is accessed or attained (through prayer, fasting, meditation, letting go of the ego, etc.), a deep, largely non-verbal, life-changing realization can occur.
That point of realization/satori/enlightenment is the peak of the mountain, metaphorically, and most of us are wending our own particular way towards that, whether we are aware of it or not.
Some of us may follow a path alone or converge onto a path followed by millions of others (Islam, Christianity, etc.) Some of us, sadly, may deny that we are on any path and be completely hardened to the possibility that there is a spiritual dimension to life.
And, there are some, also, who may join a particular path and pretend to follow it, but have ulterior, egoistic motives and no real desire to reach the spiritual destination.
