I know what it is, it's a hyrax.

Is that Hyrax still loitering around? :tu:

It is good to see you have reached a rational explanation, although I suppose we will never know for absolute certainty what it actually was.

BTW, what happened to our Hyrax friend?  I haven't seen him around for a while.

As to the OP, you should call the local animal control folks and ask if anyone has reported their lemur getting out of its cage.  Last summer near Syracuse we had a rogue kangaroo that had escaped from an animal park.  Folks spent months trying to catch him, but alas he met his fate on the New York Thruway.

Who knows, he may've mistook a bear for a hyrax.

Geeez i hope it wasent a devil monkey those things are said to be flipping viscious as all hell, the likely thing is that it was an escaped lemur like you originally thought. A picture would definetly help

Hope you find out what it is soon, and if you don't, I suppose some mysteries are meant to stay unsolved.

By the way, is that a rat? I keep rats too, they're great.

Wishing you peace, love and happiness, brother/sister.
