“Omar”, the most important drama series produced in recent TV history in the region, chronicles the life and achievements of one of the most important icons in Islam. (MBC)

Religious and historical shows are known to be fixtures on television during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, however, viewers this year will be eagerly anticipating to break their fast watching a ground-breaking series which chronicles the life of the second Righteous Caliph (thani al-Khulafa’ al-Rashidin), Omar ibn al-Khattab, also known as the Great Farooq.

what's unique about this is that the characters of the Companions of the Prophet are potrayed
while previously it was banned to portray them
merely for reasons that the person who play the role of something holy to muslims
might play another role of theif or something etc etc
i have no idea how they settled that and decided to ok it with some object it
but the series is successfully carried on regardless

in my opinion that's a good thing and good step forward
i can't wait for the first episode today :D
he's one of my favorite charcters in islam and probably all sunni muslims too

Allah, there is no God but He the Living the Eternal. no slumber can seize Him nor sleep

to Him belongs all that is In heavens and earth. who is there can intercede In His presence except what He permits

He knows what lies before them and what is after them. Nor shall they comprehend of his knowledge except as He wills

the preserving of them fatigues Him not and He is the most High and Glorious

KoS do you believe you will see a new Caliph in your lifetime and would you serve him, do you think?

calipha is successor or previous leader of ummah
and since the ummah is no longer one there is no more calipha

and don't mistake calipha for kingdoms's laws that king son . son . son etc etc
calipha is favored by the previous calipha and then the people gather up in what's called " mubaya "
similiar to modern day plebiscite to see if they agree on him

but those times are long gone there is no more caliphas and in case it was made
i doubt he would rule with just and right like the old ones did
we're in time of institutions and modern days ruling style
calipha can only be applied in islamic law ruled countries
and such countries only end up given bad name to islam due to their twist on islam
and shifting islam from being religion of justice into a cover to hold on to their power

so in my opinion if we don't wanna stay behind we'd move ahead with the world in insitituions and modern civil country leaders
and i doubt any living being at these times is fit to be calipha not mentally or morally
watch the series when they dubb it into your language and you'd know what i mean by that :D

Thanks, I will.  I think I understand what you mean about no one being qualified these days but I have read that some in Islam do still believe that a new Caliph will come and the umma will follow him like in old times.  For that to happen, though, there would need to be more countries ruled by Islam.  We live in strange days and who can say such a leader will not rise?  The whole world is looking for a hero just now.....

it depends are you talking about the mahdi , jesus ? or whom ?
because these two are the only ones who would lead the islam as whole
and there will be no need for more countries to become islamic for those two to arrive
they will simply come near the end of times when the anti-christ comes

however if there is such calipha before these two who manage to unite muslims
and ruled by justice and righteousness then i see no reason why i won't follow

not this one though it was put in examination and investagtion under many muslims historians
even the smallest event of it were made to be sure to match history
so far what i've seen from it every event was taken from history and approved by our historians
from our reliable history sources only

I was actually thinking of the Mahdi.  I thought he was supposed to be Calipha when he returns.  I guess I just wonder if there will be Muslims who will refuse to follow the one who calls himself the Mahdi.  The Bible says that there will be many who will fight against Jesus when He returns so I imagine the Mahdi will meet resistance as well.

the mahdi won't be the leader when he returns .. jesus will
there are some muslims who will refuse to follow mahdi " shitties "
because they believe mahdi will decend from housin .. while mahdi will decends from hasan
those will follow the false messaiah " anti-christ " or dajjal
the prophecy says also there is some christians will deny the real jesus and follow al dajjal " thinking he's the messiah "
because he would be able to do miracles as bring the dead back to live

the mahdi is not our .. messiah or leader he is only a decands of the prophet bloodline
and he along side with jesus will chase the anti-christ and kill him as the prophecy says
but jesus him self will put an end to the dajjal's life

I was wondering if they were going to put a spin on it or tell the truth, if it shows warts and all it should be a good program.
PS Islam isn't a phobia, it's a fact.
