I'm curious to hear some answers on what God's purpose for making some children born with defects or with sickness. I'm confused as to why. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, I don't exactly understand why God has to test us. When we test someone, we do so in order to understand that person's abilities. But God already knows everything, so why does he have to put us through tests? Is it not causing unnecessary pain?

Just for example, If someone is going through a lot of problems, someone could say that God is testing him. I guess they mean that God is testing to see if his faith is strong by giving him a tough situation to weather through. But God already knows whether he is going to fail or pass. So isn't this test causing unnecessary pain?

Just curious because I'm a bit confused.

I'm a Muslim, by the way.

Wishing you peace, love and happiness, brother/sister.

going against the grain makes us stronger people, whats a life time of occasional hurts compared to an infinity of peace afterwards. god didnt make us to glorify us, he did it for us to glorify him. when you say god, i assume your talking about the christian god but let me know if your not.

Well, I was referring to the God I worship, which Muslims call Allah. But Muslims also believe that the "christian god" is also Allah, they just don't believe that Jesus is the son of God.

So I suppose you could say that I'm referring to the "christian god".

I suppose that if you can overcome a problem, you'll get stronger. But what about those people who commit suicide because they have too much problems? Why did God chose to give them that test, if He knew that the outcome was suicide?

There was a news article here that someone killed his family and then committed suicide because he lost his job or something like that.

The ancient Egyptians said it was because God was drunk at the time. I always thought that kind of made sense.   I actually think it is because we a physical beings and things in our bodies go wonky sometimes. I don't think it has anything to do with a god.  Sometimes it is our fault, because we don't care for each other like we should. The cause of that is greed.

That does kind of make sense, if I was an ancient Egyptian.

Because there is one human soul, time does not exist as we percieve it.  At some point (this point actually) you will be incarnated as every person that has ever lived, me you and everyone else including deformed people, retarded people insane people, all.  After we, I, you, us, has lived every human life (which we are doing simultaneously) the lessons you, me, we, us, are here to learn we will be rejoined into one being and move to the next level.  There now you, I, we, us know everything.

This is why the lord tells us to do unto others as you would have them do unto you, because you are.

  • The great path has no gates. Thousands of roads enter it. When one passes through this gateless gate, he walks freely between heaven and earth.

God doesn't do that. Nature does that. God isn't the boss of the system. God is the system and everything in it, from a dead dog on the road to a newborn baby. Birth defects and sickness are there because they are possible. How we deal with problems is a test of character, but God isn't testing us to see what we do. God is the problem, the solution, and the person caught between them. The observer and the observed. The sacred and profane. The pleasure and the pain. The soccer mom and the serial killer.

I'll give you my view form my perspective and beliefs.

I don't follow a set religion, I don't really beleive in a "God". I do think there might be some sort of afterlife. I tend to look at it as the "path" for that soul was changed at last minute or it was needed elsewhere. I guess you can fit that to any religion that has an afterlife.

Life is cruel, I hope we don't die and become nothingness. Something inside me tells me we don't. It's maybe half denial and half faith from life experiences.

It's not easy seeing a child suffer, I've been there. I hope they are rewarded for it though. I like to think they are.

What kind of afterlife do you mean? It's rare that you hear someone who doesn't believe in a god says that he believes in an afterlife.

Wishing you peace, love and happiness, brother/sister.
