No doubt our ancestors consumed many mind altering plants and given the incredible perception encountered on certain hallucinogens I'm sure it probably made quite an impact on those groups that used them for the short term...but to suggest it was the primary catalyst that took us from 'archaic' to 'modern' is rediculous.

Abramelin you do agree that AE used cannabis?

Oh sure they did: they made  rope out of it, and all that twisting to make that rope goes a lot more easier when you smoke the material at the same time, lol.

But although every cannabis site is convinced that the 7 pointed symbol above Seshat's head is a hemp leaf, it doesn't necessarily have to be a hemp leaf. Maybe it's not a leaf at all.

Is it more likely that hemp would have a mystical/creative/godly association? I dont know about it being conducive to Seshats attributes  as she " also became identified as the goddess of architecture, astronomy, astrology, building, mathematics, and surveying."  Maybe the design above her head represents inspiration or a palm leaf..rather than a hemp leaf. As an aside I would think hemp use would be associated with creative arts/religion/mysticism rather than sciences IMHO

It could be a pot leaf, because it represented paper (hemp for paper) hence writing at some point, which became overtaken by the papyrus leaf or something related to that side of it...?

Personally, I don't think it's as ridiculous as it sounds in the form of mind stimulation and new perceptions gained which contributed to us being more aware of these perceptions since religious concepts were formed in trances and such, it must have been an element that enabled us to become more spiritual.

Sacramental, religious and spiritual use of cannabis refers to cannabis used in a religious or spiritual context. Cannabis has an ancient history of ritual usage as an aid to trance and has been traditionally used in a religious context throughout the Old World.
