The Aerofex hover vehicle resembles the speeder bikes from the movie 'Star Wars: Return of the Jedi'.
A resurrected hover vehicle won't fly through dense forests as effortlessly as the "Star Wars" speeder bikes from "Return of the Jedi," but its intuitive controls could someday allow anyone to fly it without pilot training.
In aeronautics, MASS reduction is everything. So, I am thinking, replace all the mechanical rods and actuators with fly - by - wire, use solid state inertial sensors (for Roll/Pitch/Yaw) such as the QRS11, replace the heavy ducted fans which appear to be metal based, with carbon composite ducted fans, and I believe the power to weight ratio will improve greatly. This improves lift capabilities, speed, and endurance.
There are no complicated electronics involved, and will also reduce the Radar signature in Military applications.
I think there is real potential here when the developers start looking at it seriously.
Death from above.
It's bad enough that I can barely cross the street without being run over by distracted or drunk drivers, now I have to keep one eye on the sky. No pilot's license or training required? Seriously?
