I don't believe in rods, but it is interesting how some of the creatures resemble the phenomena.

The Horror of the Heights, great fun. There was a lot more to his bow than just Sherlock Holmes.
I think they sound more like atmospheric Jellyfish, actually, which is one of my favourite theories that could, I think, be the answer to a good many UFO reports. I really think people ought to put in some serious research into this.

Life is a hideous business, and from the background behind what we know of it peer daemoniacal hints of truth which make it sometimes a thousandfold more hideous.

...high speed filming of insects has produced the same effects
