ABC News said:

Georgia Rep. Paul Broun said in videotaped remarks that evolution, embryology and the Big Bang theory are "lies straight from the pit of hell."

The Republican lawmaker made those comments during a speech Sept. 27 at a sportsman's banquet at Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell. Broun, a medical doctor, is running for re-election in November unopposed by Democrats.

During the remarks, Broun said that he believes the Earth is about 9,000 years old and that it was made in six days. Those beliefs are held by fundamentalist Christians who believe the creation accounts in the Bible are literally true.

Actually, this is pretty good proof against the Darwinian theory of evolution, since this is irrefutable proof that dinosaurs still walk the earth .... :innocent:

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things: the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth a war, is much worse...A man who has nothing which he is willing to fight for, nothing which he cares more about than he does about his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Seriously, I've been looking into how he got on that committe and when, and I can't seem to find it. I was hoping someone else could lead me in the right direction or give me a link.

There should be a rule that you must swear to God that you do you believe in creationism before you get into any kind of government committee that has anything to do with science or involves understanding it.

Sadly, I don't think it's simply pandering.

I think he believes it.
