Is anyone really surprised?  Nothing new...

What could possibly go wrong?

Did you find either of the questions I asked in that website, lightly? Maybe I am brain dead today, but I didn't see it when I found that link earlier.

Sadly, I don't think it's simply pandering.

I think he believes it.
The congressman might believe in the Judeo-Christian god, he might even be a genuine creationist, but his statement was definitely designed to pander to his audience.
Sadly, you can run for office having little experience, smarts or qualifications but quoting fundamentalist beliefs helps your chances significantly in many regions of this country.  In those same regions you can be completely qualified - the ideal candidate - but an atheist, and  thus not have a snowball's chance in hell.

This is the problem with congress. This guy is an idiot and has no business being near any form of science or government.

How does one come to be on the House and Science Committee?

You need to scream the loudest about it and most of all don't have to know a s**t about science. Having flunked both math and science in high school is a good way to get there.

Seriously, I've been looking into how he got on that committe and when, and I can't seem to find it. I was hoping someone else could lead me in the right direction or give me a link.

You throw your hat into the ring and then it is voted on, you need neither qualifications nor knowledge. See Ms. Bachman in the Intelligence Committee.

Thank god everyone on here is against this guy. I just watched half a program where soome creationists are presented with the overwhelming mass of evidence of evolution and every time they just say 'it was a miracle'. They were saying noah's ark was 150 metres long and had 16000 animals on it ! and that man and dinosaurs existed together !.

I had to stop watching the program as it made me so mad at their stupidity. I'm volunteering for the fight against creationism.

This politician guy is an idiot, as are the people who elected him
