Police in France said on Friday they were trying to identify the skeleton of a man believed to have lain undiscovered in bed for more than 15 years.

The body, found in an abandoned house in the northern city of Lille, is thought to be that of the elderly owner of the property, who lived alone and appeared to have no relatives.

Very sad, so many people die unremembered each day.

French?  He probably chased all his 'friends' off.  15 years is a while not to smell anything tho.

I feel sorry for him but sometimes people alienate everyone in their life and they end up alone.

I'm really surprised that some kid didn't go into that house at some point horsing around and find him.

It would be even sadder if he was found in the closet, imo.

Edit to remove the lol

I wonder how secluded the property is?  The smell must have been noticeable at a great distance.  Just sad to think of being so alone and not ever even missed by anyone.

After reading the comments, apparently after you turn 60 in France you don't pay land taxes.

If I kicked off right now, they'd be here within a year. Easy.
