This is a big storm, but so far it is a cat 1.  Stay AWAY from windows, if it starts getting really bad get in a hall way and take cover with a mattress. :(  I hate hurricanes.

Hope it is not as bad as they are making it out to be...
There is once place (in NYC I believe) that they are saying if they get 1 more foot of water than they got in Irene, they are looking at 50 BILLION dollars worth of damage. I wonder what the total price tag of this one will be...One more thing to add to the debt, and yes Obama will get the blame for it...

The spot they were looking at was 2 feet less than Irene (at high tide, which is happening now) but they haven't gotten much of the storm surge yet...

Work is actually coming to pick me up and I have a place to stay tonight if I can't get home, and I probably won't. It's really windy here but the rain is still light. (9am). It's supposed to get worse later today thru tomorrow evening. Here's hoping we don't lose power. A lot of medical equipment running there. Don't know how long the generators are good for if we lose it for a couple days. Looked outside and it seems to be raining harder now. Really dark sky.

Lilly and susieice... may I recommend that you turn your refrigerator down to its coldest setting? That way, when the power goes, your food will last longer. My mother has been calling me all day at work updating me. LOL One of the calls ended with, "They aren't even telling these people to turn down their refrigerators in order to save them!" So here I am, telling you and anyone else in that area, to do so.

9" of rain and still coming down here in Virginia Beach.  I expect 10.5" by the time we are done with this storm.  Thankfully only 3,500 without power so far as Sandy makes her turn to the NW and we ride along the southern edge of the storm for the next 12 hours or so.  Lot's of areal flooding as well as coastal flooding.
You asked for Obamamerica, now you are going to get it.  Stand by for suck.

Some great advice here, I'm taking mental notes for when we hit cyclone season, just in-case..
(what bodes ill for the northern hemisphere usually arrives down here at the turn of the seasons.)
