Sure, they could be grapes, but who the hell eats grapes with a spoon like that?
And that splodge of 'blood' seems too orange, and doesn't appear to be dripping from his hand/wrist as such. Sorry, I'm still not convinced.

But maybe Sickert needed a big spoon to eat the large fish behind him in the painting after he'd devoured the poisoned grapes?
I believe the fish to be a powerful symbol of the Masons?
