I've always thought we needed campaign reform.. .and so of course I have my (humble) proposals

...
1. Do away with
ALL campaign donations...
- Candidates would be given a set amount (equally distributed) to cover costs...
- All Television/Radio/Media time would be equal and given at no cost (CSPAN comes to mind)...
- PACs, etc would be banned by law from affiliating with a candidate - though of course they can
endorse so long as there is no monetary or other recompense tie between them...
- Candidates would be 'issued' a web site where they can post their platform, accomplishments and goals,
They can advertise the web site so long as they do not turn the ad into a 'campaign speech'...
- Outlaw Polls. Let the people decide who to vote for based on issues and platforms - not 'trends'...
- Media to be held accountable for knowingly presenting false or misleading info during campaign coverage...
Don't stiffle the press, just hold them accountable... They have been above the law for far too long...
2. On Election Day (or any time when voting is active) :
- NO MEDIA COVERAGE. Let the voters decide - not the exit polls or the media... Frequently the election is
called way before the polls are even closed. This minimalizes those voters in later time zones...
- Do not announce a winner until all voting has stopped and ALL votes have been counted...
- Enact a single national standard style of voting - paper, electronic, mechanical whatever... Make it standard,
secure and reliable... Then educate everyone on HOW TO VOTE... Start this in high school... That way there
are no excuses for improperly filled out ballots...
