Owen Paterson, the Cabinet minister in charge of farming, spoke out in favour of increased use of GM technology in food, saying there were ‘real environmental benefits’.
He said the public were already eating GM food regularly, claiming most meat served in restaurants in London will have originated from animals fed in part on GM crops.
