Karlis was indeed "one of the good guys".  My condolences for his family.

Its hard to be smart to find words when something like this happens. And person need courage to express his feelings and not to hurt one who he loved and who loved him.
Nevertheless I will try found words. I will try to be brave and hope that his loved ones wouldnt found this inappropriately. I will quote Carl Sagan and hoping that he reached that fate:

Personally, I would be delighted if there were a life after death, especially if it permitted me to continue to learn about this world and others, if it gave me a chance to discover how history turns out.

Well my friend I hope you will find resting peace and that you will full filled your curiosity and continue to learn about this world and others.
This is one song which was written by guy called Carlos Eleta Almaran when his brothers wife died.

Love story

You're by my side no more, my love
and in my soul all I've left is loneliness
and if I can't see you anymore
why did God make me love you
just to make me suffer more?
You were always my reason to exist
to worship you was my religion
In your kisses I could find
the warmth you gave to me
the love and passion
This is a love story
there's no other that's the same
and it made me understand
all that is good, all that is bad.
It brought light into my life
just to extinguish said light later
Alas! What a dark life
without your love I won't survive
You're by my side no more, my love
and in my soul all I've left is loneliness
and if I can't see you anymore
why did God make me love you
just to make me suffer more?
This is a love story
there's no other that's the same
and it made me understand
all that is good, all that is bad.
It brought light into my life
just to extinguish said light later
Alas! What a dark life
without your love I won't survive
You're by my side no more, my love
and in my soul all I've left is loneliness
and if I can't see you anymore
why did God make me love you
just to make me suffer more... suffer more...suffer more

I was saddened to see this today. Ive known Karlis since the day he joined UM. He was a kind, thoughtful, nice man. I wish his family and loved ones only the best during what must be a very difficult time for them.

Karlis will be missed a great deal.  Rest well friend.

Knew Karlis since I joined the forum, don't think we always agreed but never had anything ill to say of him.
he will definitely be missed.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

He was a great moderator - honest and fair - and, going by the statements from members who knew him a bit better, also a great man.

We should all be so lucky as to live to 73. I'm sure he left a fine legacy after all those years. RIP, Karlis.

A tragedy indeed.

R.I.P. Karlis and my condolences to his family. He always struck me as a good guy without partiality. Excellent moderator here that will be missed.

"I charge thee in the sight of God, who giveth life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed the good confession; that thou keep the commandment, without spot, without reproach, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: which in its own times he shall show, WHO IS THE BLESSED AND ONLY POTENTE, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS; who only hath immortality, dwelling in light unapproachable; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power eternal. Amen" (I Tim 6:13-16).

I just can't get used to it.  You never think about someone on here being that ill.  We have to remember that those people we are talking to on here are human and have human frailties.
