I will miss Karlis keeping me on my toes. A great guy with varied interests, always an interesting angle and a calm demeanour. Such sad news, I am so sorry to hear of this.

  • Hey, I'm not wrong. I'm just not completely right.

I just now noticed this thread. I was cleaning out my Friends Listyesterday, and Karlis was one of the 3 or 4 people who I was wondering... where did they go. But since it has been only a couple weeks, I did not Un-Friend him. Damn! Horrible is the only thing that comes to mind.

Here at Intel we make processors on 12 inch wafers. And, the individual processors on the wafers are called die. And, I am employed to check these die. That is why I am the DieChecker.

It's already 6 weeks ago, and I just now found out by accident.

Rest in peace, Karlis.

It was a very rough/sad winter for UM. Both Karlis and MID...sometimes I still can't believe it.

Wait, what?

Karlis and Mid?

What the hell?

Damn it!  I didn't always see eye to eye with him, but he was my friend....and now him and Mid...DAMMMIT!!!

Rest in peace buddy.  I hope the two of you are out there somewhere, finally getting some answers to some of the mysteries we all love and share.  Goodbye, my friend.

I know I will never forget either of them. Perhaps when I, too, enter into the undiscovered country our paths will cross again.

I am very much saddened to report that longtime UM member and moderator Karlis passed away in the early hours of Friday morning.

Karlis joined the forums back in July 2007 and was a moderator for more than two-and-a-half years. It is difficult to find the words to sufficiently express my gratitude for his contributions and support over the years and how sorry I am to hear of his passing. He was a highly valued and respected member of the UM community and will be greatly missed.

On behalf of all of us here at UM we wish his family our warmest thoughts and sympathies at this very sad and difficult time.

Love you Karlis.... never even knew you passed on until today...........  ... REST IN PEACE my dear friend.
