There's word of the Advent Conspiracy, that believed Christmas was a newly invented holiday by the US government to made Christmas an official federal holiday in the 1860's over the Civil war to heal the wounds caused by the conflict every December 25th. And again the US government in the FDR administration in the 1930's promoted Black Friday by moving Thanksgiving to the last Thursday of the month to have a major shopping day to help department stores' coffers during the Great Depression. The traditions of Christmas we associate with Christianity turns out not to be so when pagan traditions are ancient and included newfound customs developed over the centuries.
