An Essex football fan has spent two months building a homage to his favourite team's ground using Lego.

Jason Dorrington, 39, of Gafzelle Drive, Canvey, has built a replica of Canvey Island Football Club's stadium.

He said he did not know how many bricks he had used, but the project cost him about £180.

Mr Dorrington said his fiancee "thinks I'm nuts" and would like to start using their dining table - currently home to the stadium - again

So that's why Colchester's game with Swindon was called off..

They re-built the pitch at the Colchester Community Stadium with Lego bricks.
Thanks a bunch for costing us three crucial points.

Must be a new definition of replica; the scale is all off.
Who is the skeptic: the realist who won't accept belief, or the believer who won't accept reality?

I've just had an eighties flashback....

When I was a little nipper I used to play with Lego bricks a lot.
There wasn't really anything constructive about it and my structures had no function.
I think I was trying to build a castle but my little Lego man had nowhere to stretch his legs.
And besides it wasn't very colour-coordinated anyway with an assortment of different ones.
This is why I'm not an architect right now.
Btw I've been sub-consciously led to this thread  by coincidences.
Lego House was playing on the car stereo while my cousin's kid was playing Lego Clone Wars.

Is it any wonder I'm excitable.

You would be if your team had two consecutive 5-0 wins on the bounce.

Since my team (Aris Salonica) scored three times against Atletico de Madrid in Spain (Atletico-Aris 2-3) in December 2010 and became the first Greek team to beat a Spanish one away, i'm always excitable!!

Especially when Greece won the Euro championships.

You've been in a happy place since then.

True that, but since the Greek national team doesn't have a stadium on its own, i can't build it with legos!!

Well Swindon Town are after a new stadium which they can construct with water-resistant Mechano!
