Serving food and drink in different coloured bowls or cups can significantly alter its taste, making it seem sweeter, richer or simply more appealing, researchers said.
Using hot chocolate as an example, they demonstrated that the same drink tasted better when served in an orange or cream coloured cup than a red or white one.
