5 injured after firearms go off at Ohio, N.C., Indiana gun shows

(CNN) -- At least five people -- three in North Carolina, one in Indiana and one in Ohio -- were injured after weapons went off at gun shows Saturday, officials said, at a time when there's been renewed discussion about private gun sales at such shows.
The most casualties came at the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, where attendees bolted -- with at least one woman wiping out in the frenetic scene -- when gunfire rang out around 1 p.m., as seen on video captured by CNN affiliate WRAL.

"I warn you, whoever you are, oh you who wish to probe the arcanes of nature, if you do not find within yourself that which you seek, neither shall you find it outside.
If you ignore the excellencies of your own house, how do you intend to find other excellencies?
In you is hidden the treasure of treasures, Oh man, know thyself and you shall know the Universe and the Gods."

Some people shouldn't be handling weapons.  I'd like to see fire arms safety and handling courses offered in schools nation wide - voluntary of course.  The incident with the loaded shotgun discharging happened in just the location it was meant to happen - outside the display floor.  Every show I've been to has a safety check upon entering and if an individual is looking to find a buyer or get an appraisal they have to have a safety device on the weapon before entering.  Accidents happen.  I remember a cop in Mobile, AL that shot himself in the left buttock with his service weapon while getting into his cruiser.  I think they nicknamed him "lefty" after that  :w00t:

Alotta spin. Was one gun show when it first aired. I wonder if it was a paid anti gun freak that did this one. This thread should be probably be moved to CT section.

What i want to know is, why did they have loaded weapons in the exhibition hall? What kind of ramshackle organisation was that?
I'm afraid this one, though And in Indianapolis, a man walking out of the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife Show shot himself in the hand as he was loading his .45-caliber semi-automatic firearm, Indiana State Police said in a statement is really a candidate for a Darwin Award, isn't it. Perhaps that's the sort of threshold where one should not be permitted to have a Gun.

Just shows the brilliance of some gun owners and the control they have over their weapons.

This is one of those times Im gonna ask for more information about there firearm backgrounds before I exclude them as nothing but agitator plants to push the anti gun agenda....1 accident ok. I can get that. But this story was way too much and too obvious IMO.

Im referring to specifically who these people were how many arms they own. How many shows they have been too. What they have sold at a show before or bought. Do they have any firearm training. Gun shows in general are not for amateur gun users. Unless your there for the loopholes. So are these people in these incidents patsies ....

shootings at gun shows seem not to be singular incidents:

These incidents go as far back as 2008, now, 5 shot on the same day is a new record.

I feel this info is totally irrelevant because nothing you were asking about is needed to buy a gun. When idiots handle guns, people get hurt and we have nothing to stop idiots from getting a gun...

Hmm... 2008? If there are no instances before that I can't help but lean towards a little conspiratorial.

If I dig a little I am pretty sure to find incidents all the way back to the 90s. That was just superficial and on the first page of an Ixquick search.

Was wondering this too, considering  a security guard guarding a school has a gun which is NOT loaded, then why have these loaded at an exhibition?

In an ideal World a law would be passed were NO guns were allowed and all those out there destroyed, trouble is the law makers are not going to take a risk of trying to pass that without making sure they are armed first.
