The Moon will appear very near bright Jupiter tonight. A real sight to see! The Moon will actually cover the planet Jupiter, from much of South America. Follow the link for more information:   http://www.skyandtel...-187160571.html

was looking at jupiter and the moon, and noticed a very large moon halo. biggest i've ever seen. anyone else checking that out?

I can see Jupiter very near the Moon; saw it early, too, a couple of minutes before sunset. No halo seen, here, in Northern California. I once saw a double-sized lunar halo-- 46 degrees in radius. very impressive, and apparently rather unusual.

I see an orangey halo, very tight round the Moon (central B.C.).

Thanks for the 'heads up' Bison. :) It is a sight to see.

Nope, unfortunately moon halos are limited to the area of the viewer, but I do have a shot I took of the first moon halo I ever saw, which coincidentally also happens to have Jupiter hanging out nearby the halo:

That was from late December last year (the 28th I think, on the full moon).

"I think there may be "ghost phenomenon" that may be still not fully understood or dismissed, but that doesn't make it spirits of the dead, anymore than "UFO" means "spaceship" or even "UFO" or "spaceship" is directly related to aliens, or anything else. There is way too much assumption and a baseless reliance on anecdotal lore, like when people assert this or that about the spirit world or the astral plane or Ouija board demons, or religion. I say 'says WHO?'" - Paranormalcy
