i look over my timeline
every act of terrorism
since '68

every war, coup,
revolution and assassination
since '45

but no entry to designate
the exact day i became damaged
since in utero?

i play records to pass time
open the blinds and catch the sun
playing at 33 and 1/3

start to dance if you dare
i've only done so with no one here
you decide to put on a 45

we've waited longer than others
my heart still hurts from before
and more with this miscarriage

we will dance like your parents
mine only did so in the spirit
kiss you softly and move just as slow
