Passing Time

Posted Image

I'm sitting at my desk
The clock is beating time
Each second I grow older
Sentenced for some crime,

My thoughts are like a river
Flowing through my mind
I feel a guilty shiver
Seeing where I'm blind

Seeing what I chose to
Ignoring what truly is
The reality that I knew
Was blinded in a kiss

My past melts by in hours
A lifetime to recall
Pouring down in showers
As further back I trawl

The hours don't bother me
It's all those many years
Trying to swim the backstroke
Through pools of painful tears

I feel an ache inside me
Skewering me to my soul
The emptiness I see
Is like a gaping hole

Weakness can't be shown
My tears are in disguise
How frail this mask I own
I see it through my eyes

I need to see more clearly
And not get lost in dreams
Mistakes can cost so dearly
Regret paid back in screams

Everything round me changes
The clock's still beating time
I hear so many echoes
Your distant voice resign

I'm embracing independence
With one eye on the clock
Rising to the challenge
While clinging to my rock

My love, my mind, my spirit,
All dwell inside of me
I need to set them free
If happy I'm to be

I know I must be patient
And wait the clock to chime
As time cascades around me
I'm only passing time

by the name of Allah the Gracious the Merciful
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak From the evil of that which He created
And from the evil of darkness when it settles And from the evil of the blowers in knots
And from the evil of an envier when he envies"
