The guns that have caused so many deaths and wrecked thousands of lives in northern Mexico are now making music.

Sculptor Pedro Reyes has taken hundreds of guns seized in Ciudad Juarez in Mexico and transformed them into artistic musical instruments.

He has cut down gun barrels to different lengths to sound like marimbas while other pistol parts have been turned into cymbals.

What he said about gun violence causing causing people to run into their homes, lock themselves away in fear and Music doing the oppisite, is exactly what the original hip hop scene with Grandmaster flash etc was about. Such a shame that the modern hip hop scene has destroyed the vision they founded. They where rapping about love, peace, having fun and good times. Then a bunch of morons came a long and rapped about guns, working girls and drugs.

Anyway back to the topic, brilliant idea, very creative. Turning a negative into a positive is not just art, but soemhting we should all try to do anyway. So it's very inspirational.

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.
