A motorist with a fear of bridges called police in a panic while travelling along one of the country’s busiest motorways after realising he was about to travel under the River Thames, it emerged today.

The male driver, who has not been named, called 999 from the hard shoulder just off the M25 in Kent, as was due to use the Dartford Crossing during morning rush-hour this week.

The motorist, who is believed to be from Essex, had mistakenly set his satnav, thinking that he was going to avoid the road crossing, which drivers can only cross by bridge or tunnel.

Wow, what a waste of police resources. Curious though, since he never planned on crossing the river how did he get back to the other side without crossing the river again?

Be lucky he does live in Key West. Flordia. He would really panic having to cross the 7 mile bridge.

My sister suffers from these panic attacks as well.
There's one particular bridge on the M60 before the turn- off for the Trafford Centre.
Sadly I can't hold her hand while I try to conquer her fears.
It's about time the coppers had something better to do than hold speed cameras.
But there's no need to mock a people's phobias.
Though I'll have to say a councillor would be more appropriate.
That's what they are there for!

I suppose, go right around London, till he got back to where he started out from. The question is, surely, how long has he had this Phobia? How long has he been driving? has he seriously managed to avoid going over any bridge, ever, all this time? However does he go about his day to day life? :unsure2:

Life is a hideous business, and from the background behind what we know of it peer daemoniacal hints of truth which make it sometimes a thousandfold more hideous.
