Crab Nebula Flares Mysteriously
The Crab is at it again.
On March 3rd the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope spotted a flare from the Crab Nebula, a spike in gamma-ray emission thatís three times greater than the average output. The Italian AGILE satellite detected it, too, and on March 4th both teams sent telegrams calling for more observations. As of yesterday, the flare is ongoing.
