Seemed maybe more sciency, so placed this here.

"The singing Tesla coil is a form of plasma speaker. It is a variation of a solid state Tesla coil that has been modified to produce musical tones by modulating its spark output. The resulting pitch is a low fidelity square wave like sound reminiscent of an analog synthesizer.
ArcAttack's singing Tesla coil at SXSW, March 14, 2007

The term, "singing Tesla coil" was coined by David Nunez, the coordinator of the Austin, Texas chapter of Dorkbot, while describing a musical Tesla coil presentation by Joe DiPrima and Oliver Greaves during DorkBot's 2007 SXSW event. The term was then made popular by a CNET article describing the event."

From wikipedia, full article here.

Zeusaphone is a company that makes three types, their website is here.  They have a video gallery of some in action.  The videos do not do justice for how loud they can be and often are, sometimes over a 100 decibels from what I've read.

A few youtube videos of various songs or themes.

Sweet Home Alabama
Mario Brothers
Gangnam Style
Clocks
In the Hall of the Mountain King
Green Onions

May not be for everyone, but they can be fun to watch and hear.

With five feeble senses we pretend to comprehend the boundlessly complex cosmos, yet other beings with wider, stronger, or different range of senses might not only see very differently the things we see, but might see and study whole worlds of matter, energy, and life which lie close at hand yet can never be detected with the senses we have." - H.P. Great! Team these up with Compressorhead and you've got something!

I like the four-armed drummer in the group.
