Thanks for that link Regen.  It's good to see that at least some people are talking about it.

I say, Go Barbara Lee! :clap:

She was the only person principled enough to vote against the AUMF the first time.  There are very few honorable men and women in the US Congress, and she is one.  Like Russ Feingold was the only senator to vote against the unpatriot act.

America seems pretty desperate for enemies these days. I guess it's a big part of the economy. Homeland Security, all that other nonsense.

Quote

In time of actual war, great discretionary powers are constantly given to the Executive Magistrate. Constant apprehension of War, has the same tendency to render the head too large for the body.
A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty.
The means of defence agst. foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people.

James Madison, Constitutional Convention speech

Truth is such a rare quality, a stranger so seldom met in this civilization of fraud, that it is never received freely, but must fight its way into the world

Sounds like Orwellian Perpetual War.

I like Ike's farewell speech, I think he was the last good US president.

I just thought I'd add that it seems like no matter what the president promises to get elected, eventually they are enslaved to the whims of their corporate masters. It's just like Bill Hicks said;

Life is the result of the struggle between dynamic opposites Form & Chaos, Substance & Oblivion, Light & Dark And all the infinite variations of Yin & Yang
When the pendulum swings in favour of one It will eventually swing in favour of it's opposite Thus the balance of the universe is maintained

That the Congress is so reluctant to repeal AUMF, to even discuss its repeal, speaks loudly to just how corrupt Congress is, relative to the military industrial complex. :td:
