In general, we can look at ecological footprint. Here's a list of ave. per capita by country:

and note biocapacity (the world's resources in global hectares vs. population), which is around 1.8 global hectares (equivalent to that of Cuba).

Finally, note the points about energy returns on p. 2 here:

That is, the energy returns needed to receive all basic needs, including health care, is more than 10:1.
