Elfin Posted August 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2013 Sorry if this has been posted before, and I'd be surprised if it hasn't, but I couldn't find it. This researcher reckons humans originated from a cross between a chimp and a pig. Actually a jungle hog and an ancestral, chimp-like ape. The offspring then backcrossed with other chimps, hence the chimp genes predominating. His reasoning is very precise. To summarise, hybrids are far more common than we realise, including ones between quite distantly related species. They are by no means always sterile and hybridisation fuels evolution. Humans share a vast number of similarities with pigs that they do not share with apes. http://phys.org/news/2013-07-chimp-pig-hybrid-humans.html His original, extremely long and detailed article here. http://www.macroevolution.net/human-origins.html#.UfoW0Kwrbcu
