Russia, Europe Discuss Joint Missions to Jupiterís Moon

ZHUKOVSKY, August 29 (RIA Novosti) Ė Russiaís and Europeís space agencies are considering teaming up to study the largest moon in the solar system, Jupiterís Ganymede, the European Space Agency (ESA) chief said Thursday.

ESA general director Jean-Jacques Dordain said Europe planned to send an orbiter to Ganymede, while for a separate mission Russiaís federal space agency, Roscosmos, envisaged sending a landing module.

Gah, I hate to wax political in a science forum, but if the USA stopped killing brown dudes we could probably be getting in on this action!  Man, being involved in any kind of probe to the outer planets or their moons again would be so awesome!  Aside from the practical technological benefits any space mission engenders there is a certain beautiful glory to helping find out things humans NEVER knew before!
