The military has always been interested in the layout of the bridge of the Enterprise NCC-1701 since the beginning in '66.  I believe that the Navy has looked at it and even perhaps NORAD.  Even though it is Hollywood, it is still a very efficient command setup.  Some organization had established that the three most powerful *chairs* in this country is the Chair in the Oval Office, followed by the chair at the Tonight Show, and then the Captain’s chair on the USS Enterprise.  So there’s no harm at looking into using it if it works.
