This is what gets me. Argue the content and quit attacking the source. If you can`t then whats the point of posting what you did.  Like I see when some post infowars and it is discredited asap due to the source but hardly attack the subject, Alex does not write the articles he comments on them.  Not that one can believe everything on the net lol but to those that post if it`s on the net it must be true type comments, it`s pointless. as this is the medium we have for getting to the truth rather than trusting blindly in our government controled media or is that backwards. Media controled government.

I think the problem is a forum is meant to be used for discussion. When someone posts a youtube video with no content they can't really be said to be partaking in a discussion, can they?

"Govt Uses Propaganda Shock!!"

The only thing I take from this, is how easily people fall for what is said to them rather than bother to research or investigate to find out if it really is the truth. We shouldn't be shocked or upset that clever people will use propaganda as a tool for control, but at how lazy (in every sense of the word) people can be.

There is no question the government devotes substantial effort to manipulation of the public perception.  That is the purpose of "spin".  It makes every story an effort to make the government look good.  Every administration has been doing this, full time, for a long time.

Edward Bernays from a century ago, was employed by the government to do just that, I think during the Wilson administration as it prepared to enter into WWI.

Bernays coined the term "public relations" and now it has a life of its own.

With the advent of the internet, it provides a perfect forum to tailor the Official Story on anything, and to keep it alive.  It's only logical that various government agencies would pay people to spin stories and keep to the story line.

Good points made.  It sure does raise suspicion when people do such things on the web...

Here's a point. Let us say that poster X is actually working for their government. Well, does this actually matter? I ask because if you, as poster Y, is debating with poster X because you totally disagree with what they say, you are at least arguing, in way, with the government you have an issue with, and not a third parties version of what they think their government's position is, or simply a version they want to put forward or even their own mad views on the subject. Would not anybody want to debate with Obama or Putin or Assad, or at least their mouthpiece, as appossed to "Joe public" with an axe to grind.

There is a bizarre scenario that Obama or even Putin in person has been accused on this forum for being a paid shill for their government. Who knows, weird stuff happens at times.

The best defense against an Internet troll is .... a BIGGER troll.

Well I understand the sentiment, but the best defense against any sort of troll is to ignore it.

It depends on each case.  Sometimes the video is relevant, many times it is not.

Personally I have no problem with someone posting a video or any other link in an existing discussion. I loathe it when they start a thread that way with no thought of their own added to it. Imagine having a discussion that has something to do with kids: Your pulling out your wallet and flashing a photo of your own kids might be comment enough. On the other hand, imagine walking up to someone at random, flashing that same photo, then walking away. It would be understandable that they find you annoying.

No, the best way to get banned from this site is to be a bigger troll.

they've grown even more sophisticated and will actually befriend site owners and webmasters to infiltrate
forums as moderators and then abuse the power they have as mods. It has happened on the David Icke
forum to name at least one. Sometimes entire forums are set up by the government  as controlled opposition.
There was a forum similar to these called The Black Vault, and once they lost control of the information there
they wiped the entire site and started over again fresh.
