EUROPE'S biggest game bird is set to disappear from Scotland's native woodlands unless action is taken to remove another rare species that is threatening it, according to the country's gamekeepers.
The only viable breeding population of capercaillie is in woodland in the Badenoch and Strathspey area, and there are fears that the extinction of the species is “perilously close”.
