Donnie Darko Posted October 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2013 As the title says, I'm wondering if anyone has had a true spiritual experience with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, or any other supernatural happenings as a result of fasting and prayer? I just finished a 24hr fast for God a prayer petition, but to be honest.. I have felt very little result if any at all. I trust in God and Jesus and I do think they hear me, but I feel I've gotten no response no indication of it. I suppose 24hrs is nothing compared to a 40 day or even a one week fast, but I'm wondering if a fellow Christian can share some insight? (This is directed at Christians primarily incase you were wondering).
Beany Posted October 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) We don't always get what we've petitioned for. Sometimes a non-answer or no response IS a response, like no, or no, not yet. Maybe the timing isn't right, maybe there's something different but better planned for you, maybe you aren't ready to handle it for psychological, spiritual, emotional reasons, maybe it will come at a later date than what you prayed for. While I'm not Christian, I do have implicit faith that I am always getting or being given what I need, that spirit/universe/divine/whatever has far more wisdom than me, knows what I need, and would never withhold it. And I always distinguish between need and want. My prayers these days are always those of thanks & gratitude, just that, and nothing else. Donnie Darko Posted October 2, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted October 2, 2013 My petition was for my aunt who's dying of stage 4 cancer to be healed. I've been praying for weeks and the fasting occurred to me just recently. I'm actually on my way to the Hospital right now. It could be hallucinations, but she clearly sees children singing in front of her bed....although ofcourse, no one else sees them. I don't know...
