I am always confused by adults who feel better about themselves after making fun of 14 year olds

lol! Oh geez! Lighten up.... These "14yo girls" thrust themselves into the limelight and public eye with some of the most horrifically written and produced songs/video's that have EVER hit the planet Earth. And these aren't produced for kids their age. They're not made for Disney, or Nick, or some such kids teen networks. These are produced and published on adult networks and aired on such media. So, just like ANY artist, they are being judged just as we would Eminem/Nickleback/ or ANY "artists!"

lol! Yes! And typical of this day and age. One cannot simply have a laugh and enjoy themselves with others without having to defend their reasoning and come under scrutiny. VERY tired of the "Politically Correct" how dare ANYONE ever have a laugh at someone else or something else that may be deemed "inappropriate" by the Politically Correct Police! Pathetic

When I was 14 years old my friends and I were listening to better music than these. Come to think of it, any music is better than these. Well, I can't really say that, as I've heard lots of songs comparable in quality to these three in different ways.

See, this really isn't music at all. It's a manufactured product, in that its sole reason for being is to make money for someone. There is no difference between these songs and corn flakes or dish washing soap or washing machines.

This is the correct way to understand this stuff.

Easy. Worst song ever, MacArthur Park by Richard Harris (yes, the actor) circa 1968.

Actually, Patrice Wilson seems to be the mastermind behind these messes. He happened to write and produce both ladies' (Rebecca and this Chinese food loving girl) tracks. It is pretty clear in my opinion that he knew exactly what he was doing with this song. It really seems like exploitation,

I heard notes of varying pitch and tempo going together. The intent of the production team doesn't determine whether a song you do or don't like is music. Don't like it; fine. It's a ridiculous song. But don't say it's not music. That's bull****.

Adding in that many of the acts you enjoyed 'back in the day' were manufactured projects to make money, too. They also enjoyed what they did. Do you think these artists feel that differently?

I always kinda liked MacArthur Park. Interesting arrangement, four different movements and very good musicians playing. Written by Jimmy Webb who wrote many hit songs recorded by many famous artists. He wrote the song after breaking up with his girlfriend, he took the song seriously.

A much better version by the great Glen Campbell, who had many Jimmy Webb written hits. I think this excellent version makes this a reputable song. Starts at :27

All songs are out there to make money, and designed to reach an audience. However, I think it depends on the level of manipulation that is important. These songs listed here are merely manipulated sound with commercialism as intent and nothing else.

I suppose we could ask ourselves what music is. In my view, music comes from the intellect, emotion and soul of the artist. When this is not evident, the result is organized sound, not music. This is my opinion, of course, but having been a working musician all my adult life, I have some confidence in this opinion. I don't want to sound arrogant here. Maybe I'm just a foolish elitist in some things.

I always seem to get in trouble when I post about music, anyway. lol  My mother used to like paintings that were 'pretty pictures', and I disagreed with her taste in art. She enjoyed her paintings, so maybe it doesn't really matter. If you're happy with what you like, who am I to discourage you? I'm nobody important to you.

I just think some definition of quality, maybe depth of intellect and emotional content, matter to me. If it's bull, so be it.
