That was pretty cool. (no pun intended).

I am still unsure how the ice would form in super-cooled, non-carbonated water though as there are no bubbles to start off the process unless there are other particulates that the crystals form around.

I remember being told in high school science class that if the water is kept really still then the ice won't form no matter the temperature of the water. Pretty neat to watch the experiments though.
