SEXTANT (Station Explorer for X-ray Timing and Navigation Technology)

High bandwidth communications and advanced navigation capabilities will enable future deep space exploration of the solar system and pinpoint navigation in near-Earth space. The X-ray navigation and communications project element will focus on the development of the X-ray based technologies capable of providing accurate navigation and high bandwidth communications beyond the inner solar system. Technology test beds including those that utilize the ISS will be considered.

"Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-boggingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the street to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space." - The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams 1952 - 2001
