Still Waters Posted March 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 28, 2014 Right now, in a high-security research lab at Northwestern University's Falk Center for Molecular Therapeutics in Illinois, scientists are tickling rats. Their goal? To develop a happiness pill. But their efforts might also produce some of the best evidence yet that humour isn't something experienced exclusively by humans. http://www.newscient...ml#.UzX_Us7BQdU

Lilly Posted March 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 28, 2014 My dogs most certainly have a sense of humour...very impish and teasing for the most part. As for getting happiness from a pill...far too "Brave New World" for my taste. I'll get my happiness the old fashioned way.

Frank Merton Posted March 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 30, 2014 I dunno about humor, but I will say cats have a definite sense of justice and of "getting even" and sometimes what they do to achieve this is very funny. Also, since they have such a sense of personal dignity, some of the things they do to reclaim it when off balance are worth watching. You know -- the "I intended to do that" routine. Myles Posted March 31, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 31, 2014 I don't think most animals have a sense of humor. Maybe some. Mostly primates. I don't think dogs do. I've never seen anything that tells me they do. They do have a playful side which I don't consider the same as a sense of humor.
