The brain has been trained to jump to conclusions rather than try to determine what really happened. It gives them their "15 minutes of fame". I agree that renovations of this historical sight and its many tales and perceived superstition could cause informed contractors and workers to be jumpy, on edge and just simply weirded out by being there. Yes, the paranormal belief system drives a thriving industry that sells books, TV shows, gadgets, phone apps, and tours. Lots of money is made off of belief and believers. I saw the Ghost Adventures episode where they went there, and the kinds of stuff they encountered was definitely something you wouldn't want to end up meeting.
