So what is it like to be pronounced the oldest man on earth?

Alexander Imich, 111 1/4 years old, sat in a chair in his Upper West Side apartment overlooking the Hudson and made a face. Stick-thin with vein-roped hands, bristly whiskers and an enviable shock of hair, he formed a gaunt smile, eyes dancing.

"Not like it's the Nobel Prize," he wheezed, pausing for a startled moment when his hearing aid popped out.

I only want to live to be 85 tops (providing I have some quality of life). I have no desire to go beyond that.

Heh..the guy likes ice cream, apparently. Kinda cute really.

Still....I do not think there is just one singular factor determining a long life...some people lead a minimally healthy life and live long too.

50 is fine enough for me.

Blimey, when I was 10 years old and realised that I would be 28 in the year 2000 I was horrified and thought that I would be absolutely decrepit by then!!

I'm not sure I'd like to get to be 100+ ...I think I would be frustrated by not being physically able to do what I wanted and I would absolutely hate to rely on someone else to provide my basic needs - I reckon 85 would be my choice age to 'pop me clogs'

I'd be dead already using that criteria. Seeing as I'm just fine health wise it would have been a bad choice.

As long as I'm healthy and sane, living a long life is not a major issue for me.
