A Russian schoolboy has invented a humane device to measure how fatty pigs are, it's been reported.

Aydar Minibayev, 12, says he spent three years making the Shpikomer - which translates as "Lard-o-meter" - as part of a school science project,

And there was me thinking the era of the 'young inventor' had passed us by.

If the machine works as well and as constantly as reported I offer a big congratulations to Aydar Minibayev.

I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other. I've seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything to show me where the hell Helen of Annoy has been for the past couple of months.
