Some of those laws sound silly on the face of it, but actually make (or at least made) sense...
Such as the Florida law about elephants being tied up to parking meters...  Florida is traditionally
the winter home to several large circuses, and in the past some of the elephant trainers would take their friendly elephants
down the town streets for a stroll (it also served as advertising for the circus)... Occasionally they would stop off at a store, etc,
and would tie their elephant off on the meter....

In an ideal World a law would be passed were NO guns were allowed and all those out there destroyed, trouble is the law makers are not going to take a risk of trying to pass that without making sure they are armed first.
