A Russian bank has come up with an unusual strategy to get clients to buy their mortgage products: they're throwing in a cat with each purchase.

Sberbank, one of the country's largest banks, lets its clients choose from one of 10 breeds of feline that will be delivered to their new home in time for the housewarming party.

I have been thinking of starting a crazy cat lady beginner kit business.

Included in each post would be 5 kittens, yarn, knitting needles and some packets of Earl Grey.

It must be a real status symbol to own a cat in Russia I guess, or the mice are a huge problem.  Interesting.

I think this explains the marketing aim...

"Sberbank, one of the country’s largest banks, lets its clients choose from one of 10 breeds of feline that will be delivered to their new home in time for the housewarming party.

The bad news for customers (but the good news for the cats) is that they won’t be able to keep the animals, which are only intended to enter the property before the owner – a Russian symbol of good luck."

I guess some fall for the most simple marketing gimmicks. Nothing against cats of course.

I used to live next to a crazy cat lady.  She would lure other people's cats into her garage with food, lock them in and then adopt them out in the penny saver(a local ad/coupon paper).

If the bank REALLY wants to take their marketing to the next level. They will have the cat show up with a bottle of vodka and a few crystal glasses to drink from to properly celebrate the new home purchase. That's marketing baby! :D
