A (very) hot Jupiter is weather mapped

Recommended Posts

A very hot Jovian planet, WASP 43 b, which orbits its star in only 19.5 hours, has had its temperature and water vapor distribution mapped on a global scale. By intricate spectral analysis of the light output of the planet, the map was gradual built up. The permanently lighted side of the planet, which is tidally locked, is hot enough to melt iron.
