Deadly future heatwaves could kill thousands

Today's children will face deadly heatwaves which could kill thousands more people by the end of the century, the Royal Society has warned.

If governments do not get a handle on global warming by 2100, Britain will experience three times as many heatwaves as it does now with the death toll rising

Around 2,000 people die each year in the UK because of hot weather, with the elderly at most risk. But that could rise to at least 6,000 in the next century and probably higher because the percentage of over-65s is rising dramatically.

Experts claim the government must implement new strategies for mitigating the devastation caused by extreme weather including res-establishing flood plains; building dams; increasing reservoir capacity; planting new forests near coasts and creating artificial reefs and coastal barrages.

Maybe curbing the breeding would be one way of giving people a chance to use what resources may be available without running out, look at certain areas of Africa where there is not enough arable land to grow food on, and this is today where water pipes could still be installed. They still breed excessively where infact they should be able to move to a more suitable area.

At the end of the day there is not that much you can do when nature works to its extremes, common sense and working together without killing each other to get the safest areas and thinking about your childrens future when you intend to have more than 2.

We could use some hot weather. /jokesbutnotreally

England is a miserable country. It's almost always wet, windy and cold.

Its all this "wet" that gives us that green and pleasant land. I tell you what, When you next fly back into the UK, you don't see a more beautiful country. Nothing quite like the Green Green Grass of home.

On the topic of the thread, We are told Humans came out of Africa, central Africa to be exact, and we've flourished since, from nomad deserts to the far reaches of the Arctic. we adapt like we have for the 250,000 + years which have seen many changes and challengers. - Listen these doomsday scenarios can be traced back to the first civilisations, there is something in the human psyche about the destruction of us all. every civilisation has a prophecy. We look back with 21st century eyes and laugh at all the ancient prophecies. for all our intelligence and technology we haven't changed. Our civilisation has its own doomsday prophecy, be it, Nuclear winter, Asteroid, or the preferred Global Warming. I say preferred, because as Humans we like conformation, and we think we have that in Climate Change as we point to Science as proof, even if that is pseudoscience. based on scientific data and imputed computer models that haven't had a prediction come true.

Believe me in 2100, Even if there was zero emissions from Humans, they'll still have their doomsday Scenario. It's what we humans do. its why we also feel the need for a greater being. a GOD, helps us fill in a void.
