ISIL forced out of Kobane

Occult1

Recommended Posts

I think it deserved a thread of it's own, after months of intense fighting, the Syrian Kurds of Kobane, with the help of American airstrikes and Peshmerga fighters from Iraq have finally pushed ISIL out of this (now emblematic) town.

As you may remember, ISIL has used the fight for Kobane in their propaganda but now it appears they have lost.

“The Kurds are pursuing some jihadists on the eastern outskirts of Kobane, but there is no more fighting inside now.”

The loss of Kobane, also known as Ayn al-Arab, would be a key symbolic blow against ISIL, which has lost more than 1,000 fighters trying to capture the town since Sept. 16, 2014.''

They will soon turn to IEDs and car bombings now .

But at least they don't own Kobani as they did before.

What it will take for rest of nations to send help... Everyone knows that it takes much less effort then when Sadam was invaded but, nothing happens, only Kurds, Iraq and Syrian army fight this madness while all that others did was to make isis stronger through supplies sent to 'rebels'.

I think the coallition's strategy is working quite well so far. ISIS's advance has been blunted on all front, they now face fierce resistance on the ground from determined and well-coordinated local forces. The Iraqi army will soon counter-attack and take back what they have lost, in Syria the situation is more problematic however. The persistence of not collaborating with the Assam regime is only making matters more complicated than they should be.

The West is already helping the local forces in every possible way except ground troops, the Kurds Y.P.G wouldn't have stood a chance without the US Air Force. The city would've been taken in about 3 days, like Mosul in Iraq, a much bigger city than Kobane. Each time ISIS's fighters gained grounds in Kobane they were impeded by aistrikes and eventually pushed back by Kurdish forces. Then Iraqi Peshmerga came in from Turkey with heavy weaponry and that tilted the balance. And don't think for a second that US commanders weren't crafting strategies and coordinating the resistance with the Kurds.

The crafting is going on on all sides ~ with good King Abdullah gone there are adjustments on where allegiance and patronage lies ~ in other words this lull has nothing to do with whatever the airstrikes are achieving ~ in other words ~ it is still early days ... once the period of mourning is over is when the picture gets clearer ~
